The purpose of the Shuswap Music Festival is to provide an opportunity for amateur and/or young performing artists to demonstrate their achievements in music to their peers and to the community.

SCHOLARSHIPS

To be eligible for solo scholarships, participants must enter a minimum of three solo classes in a Discipline. Open classes, concerto classes, and Concert group classes are non scholarship classes. Performers are eligible to win only one scholarship in each discipline entered if the above requirements are met.

OTHER AWARDS

Some scholarship awards are given in specific categories such as Bands, Choirs, Ensemble Classes and Composition. The above scholarship criteria does not apply in this case. To be eligible for Musical Theatre awards participants must enter two musical theatre classes.

A FINAL NOTE

Our rules are meant to provide a “level playing field” for all performers. We respectfully ask that all participants, their teachers, friends and family comply with them to ensure that all performers get the most from the Festival.

SCHOLARSHIPS

 GRADED SCHOLARSHIPS:

To be eligible for Graded scholarships, students must be under 28 years or younger as of Dec 31st of the previous year and have entered a minimum of three solo classes in their Discipline. Open, concerto and concert classes do not qualify for these scholarships. Graded scholarships are awarded to the student with the highest marks of three solo classes entered in each grade and must be a score of 258 and above.

2.  ADJUDICATOR AWARDED SCHOLARSHIPS

Best of the Fest, Concert class, Ensemble, Composition.

These scholarships are awarded at the sole decision of the adjudicator.

3.   BCRMTA  SHUSWAP BRANCH SCHOLARSHIP

To be eligible for this scholarship you must be studying with a teacher from the Shuswap Branch of the Registered teachers and be at the Grade 10 – ARCT level.  Awarded at the sole decision of the adjudicator.  Amount $100.00

4.  BLAIR BORDEN SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is in memory of Blair Borden, a teacher and avid music supporter.

To be eligible, student must be 18 or over before the end of the current year.  The amount of $500.00 is intended to support further study.  Awarded at the sole decision of the adjudicator.

5.  MARY FOWLER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is in memory of Mary Fowler and is to be awarded to a young musician preferably a vocal student, for excellence in vocal performance. The amount of the award is determined on an annual basis. The amount of the award for 2013 is $750.00.  Awarded at the sole decision of the adjudicator.
